Kickboxing

Kickboxing refers to the sport of using martial-arts-style kicks and western-boxing-style punches to defeat an opponent in a similar way to that of standard boxing. Kickboxing is a standing sport and does not allow continuation of the fight once a combatant has reached the ground. All punches and kicks must land above the belt.

Kickboxing is often practised for general fitness, or as a full-contact sport. In the full-contact sport the male boxers are bare chested wearing kickboxing trousers and protective gear including: mouth-guard, hand-wraps, 10oz boxing gloves, groin-guard, shin-pads, kick-boots, and optional protective helmet (usually for those under 18.) The female boxers will wear a tank top in addition to the male clothing/protective gear.

Kickboxing is often confused with Muay Thai, also known as Thai Boxing. The two sports are similar, however, in Thai Boxing, kicks below the belt are allowed, as are strikes with knees and elbows. Also, Thai Boxing matches are fought with no shin guards (only leg wraps), unlike kickboxing, where leg protectors are used.

Boxing
Boxing (sometimes known as pugilism, Anglais boxing, or English boxing) is a combat sport in which two participants (generally) of similar weight fight each other with their fists. Boxing today is conducted in a regulated way, typically in a series of one to three-minute intervals called rounds. Victory is achieved if the opponent is knocked down and unable to get up before the referee counts to ten (a Knockout, or KO) or if the opponent is deemed too injured to continue (a Technical Knockout, or TKO). If there is no stoppage of the fight before an agreed number of rounds, a winner is determined either by the referee's decision or by judges' scorecards.

While people have fought with fists probably since immemoral times, the ancient Greeks were the first to make a sport of it, by giving rules and staging tournaments with professionals. The birth hour of boxing as a sport may mark its allowance as an Olympic game as early as 688 BC. Modern boxing evolved in Europe, particularly Great Britain.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Gi)
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting with the goal of gaining a dominant position and using joint-locks and chokeholds to force an opponent to submit. The art was based on early 20th century Kodokan Judo, which was itself then a recently-developed system (founded in 1882), based on multiple schools (or Ryu) of Japanese Jujutsu.

It promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person using leverage and proper technique can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger assailant. BJJ can be trained for self defense, sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition. Sparring (commonly referred to as 'rolling') and live drilling play a major role in training, and a premium is placed on performance, especially in competition.

This form is with uniform [required] and belt ranking system.
Instructor is Rodrigo Nunes who is from Brazil and has 20 plus years of BJJ experience.

Submission Grappling & Wrestling (No Gi)

Submission wrestling (also called Grappling or submission fighting, and technically referred to as submission grappling) is a sports modality and a general term describing the aspect of martial arts and combat sports that focus on clinch and ground fighting with the aim of obtaining a submission using submission holds. It brings together techniques from freestyle wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, folk American wrestling (catch-as-catch-can), Sambo and Judo. Submission grappling as an element of a larger sport setting is very common in mixed martial arts, Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Pankration, catch wrestling, shootfighting, shooto and others.

  No uniform is required.
